CryptPad
XWiki SAS was founded in 2004 in Toulouse, France, originally to develop the XWiki open-source wiki platform. In 2016, the company began building CryptPad, a zero-knowledge collaboration suite where all content is encrypted in the browser before reaching the server, meaning the hosting provider cannot read user data.
CryptPad supports real-time collaborative editing of rich-text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Kanban boards, forms, and whiteboards. It can be self-hosted or used via the official instance at cryptpad.fr. The project has received funding from the European Commission's NGI (Next Generation Internet) programme and the French government's BPI innovation grants.
XWiki SAS employs roughly 30 people across its two product lines. The company has a mixed funding history, combining revenue from enterprise support contracts with public grants and private investment.
